'Different level': Danilo thinks £70m-rated Nottingham Forest star will play in Europe soon

Danilo has claimed that one of his Nottingham Forest teammates will be playing European football very soon.

Forest survived relegation again during 2023/24, securing their status thanks to a 2-1 win over Burnley on the final day.

Although it was a drab season that proved a bit of a slog for a number of reasons, there were some bright sparks.

Danilo was one of those. He became a regular in the team under Nuno Espirito Santo and finished the season well.

Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood all contributed, with Anthony Elanga also in fine form across the season.

Danilo signed for Forest for £16 million in January 2023 and he’s now claimed that one of his teammates will be playing in Europe soon.

Danilo thinks Forest star Murillo is destined for European football

Forest fought off Manchester City to sign Murillo for £10.4 million during the summer transfer window.

He’s not missed a single Premier League game since making his debut against Brentford back in October and Murillo is now valued at £70 million.

Danilo doesn’t anticipate he will be at Forest for long and he believes Murillo will be playing in Europe soon.

He told The Athletic: “Murillo? He’s a different level of player.

“I am biased because I am with him every day but this is only his first season.

“He will do brilliantly in European football in the future.”

Forest may have to cash in on Murillo

Ultimately, this is going to be a tricky summer for Forest as they aim to comply with financial fair play.

The Reds will therefore have to let one of their star players go this summer and Murillo will be one of the fancied Forest stars.

Murillo has been a revelation at Forest and no centre-back has made more successful dribbles than the Brazilian in the Premier League, according to Who Scored.

At 21-years-old it’s crazy to think how good he could become and in our view, Danilo is going to be proved right about Murillo.

Ultimately, the challenge will be replacing Murillo when it does leave and hopefully, Forest can get the search for a replacement right.
