Report: Chelsea in race to sign £60m Premier League star who's been called a 'wizard' by Declan Rice

Chelsea are interested in signing a £60m-rated attacker from a Premier League rival this summer.

It’s been claimed in the transfer rumour mill that the Blues have set their sights on a high-profile addition, so perhaps it’s going to be another very busy summer at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca is expected to become Chelsea’s new head coach across most media outlets.

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are poised to announce Maresca as their new manager and that he’s asked for three priority signings already.

Chelsea will go head-to-head to sign £60m star

GiveMeSport claims that London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham could be competing this summer to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

It is explained that Palace won’t entertain the sale of Eze for less than £60m. In fact, Eagles manager Oliver Glasner is desperate to keep the attacking playmaker at Selhurst Park.

The report says that Palace are optimistic they can fend off interest this summer, but Chelsea and Spurs do like the 25-year-old star.

Apparently, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is considering a possible swoop for Eze, but they’re behind Chelsea and Spurs in the race.

What Declan Rice previously said about Eberechi Eze

Palace’s Eze, along with Arsenal’s Declan Rice, are both due to meet up with England this week. Gareth Southgate has an initial squad of 33 players that he’ll cut down to a 26-man squad for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.

Eze’s only got two senior England caps under his belt so far, but there’s no doubting he’s a super talent.

The versatile attacker, who can play as a No 10 or on the wings, earned a one-word compliment from midfield star Rice last September.

When asked to describe Palace star Eze on England’s TikTok account in one word last year, Rice said: “Wizard”.

He’s around the England camp after 11 goals and six assists in 31 Palace matches this season. On top of that, he gets flying colours on the eye test because of his dribbling and flair.
