'On the radar': Journalist says Man City are now the favourites to sign £97m player in the summer

It has been reported that Manchester City are the favourites to sign one player in the summer.

Manchester City will be hoping to attain all their summer targets to ensure they have yet another successful season.

It is perhaps more important than ever for City to have a fruitful campaign next season — with a report on Monday claiming that Pep Guardiola will decide in the summer if he wishes to extend his contract beyond 2025.

Man City are the favourites to sign £97 million player this summer

If indeed Guardiola is set to embark on his last and final campaign at City, he would be intending to depart Manchester with a bang.

Journalist Eduardo Burgos has claimed on X that Manchester City are the favourites to sign Bruno Guimaraes in the summer.

As per Burgos’ information, as mentioned in more detail by AS, Newcastle United might have to sell either the Brazilian or Alexander Isak in the summer to adhere to PSR regulations.

It has been claimed that Newcastle will have to generate between €70 million (£63.2 million) and €80 million (£72.3 million) to be in line with PSR regulations.

The report also claims that Guimaraes has a €115 million (£97.7 million) release clause in his contract, which will remain active until June 24.

Arsenal and Liverpool also interested in Bruno Guimaraes

It has also been claimed that both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing the 26-year-old to bolster their midfield — with the former hoping to sign him if Thomas Partey leaves the club. As for the Reds, Bruno Guimaraes is the answer to Moises Caicedo saying no to them in favour of a move to Chelsea.

When Eduardo Burgos was asked if Manchester City will sign Bruno Guimaraes, he replied, “[He is] on the radar.”

Burgos also stated, “They spoke with Bruno’s camp few months ago and they are going to resume contacts now.”

With Liverpool and Arsenal also seemingly pushing to sign Bruno Guimaraes, only time will tell whether Manchester City being potential favourites will lead to them confirming his capture.
