'I could actually see it happening': Journalist says Man City could sell 'unique' player for £50m

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Manchester City would demand a fee in the region of £50 million to sell one of their players.

Over the years, Manchester City seem to easily let their players go rather than hold on to them in what leads to a transfer saga.

However, like any elite club, City’s priority seems to be to rake in a fee that is worth the player’s quality, age and contract length.

Journalist: Man City could be open to selling one player for £50 million

Last Tuesday, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Ederson Moraes was considering an exit from the Etihad Stadium.

City’s number 31, described as “unique” by Joleon Lescott via the Daily Mail has spent seven years at the club and has gone on to become a club legend.

On the Ranks FC podcast, Dean Jones stated that Manchester City would be open to the possibility of selling Ederson for £50 million this summer.

Jones said: “The last reports were that the offer would be around £25 million. I don’t think City would sell him for £25 million but there is an open-mindedness about how this situation could open up.”

“I think if that figure rose, you would have to get close to £50 million for Ederson and they would have a decision to make and I could actually see it happening.”

£50 million would be a fair fee for Ederson

Considering Ederson has two years left on his contract, £50 million or a fee in that region would mean good business for Manchester City. In the process, the Sky Blues could make a £15 million profit as well, as they signed the Brazilian international for £35 million in 2017.

The fee would be fair from City’s perspective as regardless of the contract length, the 30-year-old can get into most teams in the world.

The six-time Premier League winner has shown no signs of a decline and it seems like he could play at the highest level for many more years.

Whether Manchester City should sell Ederson under any circumstances in the summer is a different conversation — considering he has been a vital part of their spine for years.
