Actress Lana Parilla recently opened up about living in her car when struggling to break into the industry.

The 46-year-old actress is best known for her work on shows like Spin City, 24, and Once Upon A Time. Before she managed to break into the notoriously tough industry, on the other hand, she’s revealed she spent some time homeless and living in her car.
“There’s always a little part of me, in the back of my head, that’s like, ‘Oh my God, don’t ever stop working so hard,'” she began. “I was homeless for two months living in a car. I just don’t ever want to end up there again.”
Confessing this time of her life happened in her late teens before she made it, she went on: “There was a time, early on in my career—and it was very early on—I was living on my own, like 19 years old. It was a really hard time. My family and I were in different places, and I was kind of left on my own.”
She recalled how straining it was to chase her acting dream while also being her essential support system. In turn, this affected her education. “I had to drop out of college,” she confessed, “which broke my heart. I had to figure how to make more money to support myself.”
This time of her life still plays a huge role in influencing her decision-making. “It terrifies me still to this day,” she continued. “That, like, that could ever be a reality for us as artists… At 19 years old, it’s different, but, at 46, it’s a lot scarier.”

Fortunately, Lana’s perseverance and determination paid off, and she was able to land a significant role in the TV series Spin City in 2000, helping to push out fears that her efforts were in vain. As illustrated earlier by the shows she’s been in, she has continued to work her dream job.
Her latest project is the 2024 movie Atlas, which recently premiered on Netflix and co-stars Jennifer Lopez in the lead role.
Billed as a sci-fi action movie, it also co-stars Mark Strong, Simu Liu, and tells the story of a data analyst discovering AI may be the only way to make her rescue mission a success.
Along with recent roles in The Lincoln Lawyer and beyond, Lana continues to inspire.
