Report: What not being in Europe means for Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak at Newcastle United

Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are Champions League calibre players, but the Newcastle United duo will not be gracing the elite stage of European football in black and white next season.

In fact, they will not be competing in Europe at all. Manchester United winning the FA Cup means that Newcastle United are not going to qualify for the Conference League, which is a major blow for everyone associated with the club.

But Newcastle United only have themselves to blame, and must now suffer the consequences. That possibly means paying more money for players this summer, as they look to find a way back into Europe.

But will one of those consequences also be losing their top players? Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are targets for Champions League clubs, and you could not blame them if they decided to leave. After all, Howe has hailed Bruno as a ‘world class’ player, while Dan Burn has said the same about Isak.

And given the financial issues that PSR have caused, there have been fears that Newcastle United would need to cash in on one of Bruno or Isak.

Good news on Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United futures

However, the latest update from iNews suggests that is not the case.

According to iNews, not qualifying for Europe is not going to have any impact on the Newcastle United futures of Bruno or Isak.

They add that the club are not under pressure to sell either player on the cheap due to PSR issues, which is great news for the Toon Army. It is also great news for Eddie Howe, who has spoke about how damaging it would be if either player were to leave.

Of course, there is still a chance they could depart. Bruno has a £100million release clause that can be activated. However, it does not look like Arsenal or Manchester City want to right now.

As for Isak, it has been reported that Newcastle value him at nearly £200million, so it is going to take a seismic offer to see him exit St James’ Park.

Two players are leaving Newcastle after missing out on Europe

But while a lack of European football is not going to force Newcastle to sell Bruno or Isak, it has resulted in two other players calling time on their Toon careers.

It was reported earlier this week that the Magpies were now likely to release Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett after failing to make it into the Conference League, and their departures have now been confirmed.

While the time is right to part ways, it is very sad to see Ritchie and Dummett’s time on Tyneside come to an end. They have been tremendous professionals throughout their Newcastle United careers, and we wish them all the best for the future.
