Danny Murphy has said that a Manchester City star is one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen.
Since Pep Guardiola took charge of the Citizens back in 2016, the Manchester club have been a dominant force in England, winning six Premier League titles and numerous other domestic trophies.
Now that the Blues have become the first side to win four Premier League trophies in a row, one pundit has heaped praise on one specific figure who has played a big role in the club’s success for the majority of Guardiola’s time at the Etihad Stadium.
Murphy says Man City star is better than most other Premier League players
Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say about Ederson including what he offers City and his status in the Premier League.
He said: “He is not just a good goalkeeper who can play out, he’s a technically brilliant footballer. His passing is better than some midfielders who play in the Premier League.
“He is the best footballing goalkeeper there’s ever been, bar none, by a mile. There’s no one near him.”
Since joining the Manchester club from Benfica in a deal worth £35m back in the 2017 summer transfer window, Ederson has made 332 appearances for the Blues in all competitions.
Across those games, the £100k-a-week City star has kept 155 clean sheets and lifted numerous trophies.
Ederson’s passing is elite
Looking back over the recent Premier League season, the Brazilian ended the campaign with the highest passing accuracy percentage (46.3%) in the division for passes over 40 yards after successfully completing 114 of the 246 long passes he attempted.
