'He's really hard': Dutch pundit shares what Arne Slot will do if Liverpool players 'don't bring what he wants'

Liverpool fans are looking forward to seeing their club in action under Arne Slot.

The Dutchman has been confirmed as Jurgen Klopp‘s successor at Anfield. He will take charge of the club once pre-season begins, and there’s a lot to be excited about.

Liverpool players will surely be keen to find out what Slot is like. Former Dutch international turned pundit Marciano Vink has now given an insight.

What Arne Slot will do if Liverpool players don’t listen to him

Liverpool were linked with about a dozen managers after Klopp announced in January that he would be leaving the club.

The Reds thought long and hard about the German’s successor, and after months of speculation, they decided Arne Slot was the man.

The Dutchman had done a phenomenal job at Feyenoord. He won the league title in the 2022/23 season and followed that up with the domestic cup in the recently concluded campaign.

There is a feeling that Slot’s style of play is very similar to Klopp’s, and that is why he was given the job ahead of people like Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi.

Now, everyone is looking forward to seeing what Slot will do at Anfield, and Vink has now shared what Liverpool players can expect.

The pundit has revealed that the system will be very similar to that of Klopp but more exciting. He also claimed that Liverpool’s players will have to bring what he wants on the pitch. If they don’t, they will be substituted.

He said on ESPN FC: “It’s going to be a lot similar to Klopp but this is going to be even more, more exciting if he gets the time, you know?

“Because in the beginning, he’s going to substitute players if they don’t bring what he wants. He’s really hard on that. If you don’t bring what he wants and what he demands, he’s substituting, it doesn’t matter who you are or how big you’re name is.

“He wants to see that you’re really there to play, go for it. If you lose, you lose. But in the end, you will see he will make progress with the team.”

Slot really needs to do one thing at Liverpool

Klopp is an absolute legend of Liverpool, and replacing him will not be easy.

We’ve all seen what happened to David Moyes and Unai Emery at Manchester United and Arsenal respectively after they replaced icons like Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

Slot will have his own difficulties at Liverpool, but the one thing he simply cannot do is let the players undermine him in any way.

The Dutchman needs to show authority from the very first day. Even when the going gets tough, he should demand respect from the players to have any chance of surviving.

If Vink’s comments are anything to go by, Slot will definitely do that.
