‘For sure’: £40m player publicly states he’s open to Premier League move after being linked with Tottenham

A reported Tottenham Hotspur target has publicly admitted he’s open to a move to the Premier League.

After securing a spot in next season’s Europa League, Ange Postecoglou is expected to strengthen his squad at Tottenham this summer.

Spurs are reportedly eyeing a move for another centre-back despite snapping up Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January.

Postecoglou has identified three key areas of his side he wants to strengthen and that includes a central defender.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Jean-Clair Todibo before moving to bring in Dragusin. The OGC Nice defender is also reportedly a target for Spurs ahead of the summer.

Now, Todibo has been speaking to The Daily Mail and dropped a hint over his future.

Todibo has also been linked with moves to Manchester United and Liverpool after an impressive campaign in Ligue 1.

Reacting to speculation over his future, the defender told The Mail: “It’s nice to hear all the compliments. I’m trying to stay focused on my game and my team-mates — but for sure I am open to playing in the Premier League.”

Tottenham will have other priorities this summer

Despite his desire to move to the Premier League, it would be a surprise to see Spurs bring in a centre-back of Todibo’s quality.

The Frenchman is likely to want a starting place should he decide to leave Nice and Postecoglou may not be able to offer him that at Tottenham.

The partnership of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero seems set for the time being, while Dragusin provides excellent cover.

With that being said, Spurs could do with an extra option in the position. But spending £40 million on Todibo seems unlikely when they have more pressing concerns in midfield and upfront.
