'We expect more': Club CEO confirms he's anticipating interest in £7.5m player after he's linked with Celtic

Celtic’s work in the transfer market is now getting underway after the season drew to a close with a brilliant Scottish Cup win over Rangers.

We have already discussed this morning how Brendan Rodgers intends to trim the Celtic squad this summer and how the Hoops boss will be keen to add to it as well.

With Celtic already being linked to goalkeepers to replace Joe Hart, it does seem as though this summer is going to be busy for the recruitment department.

One name who was continually linked to the club throughout the season, Mathias Kvistgaarden, faces a big summer and as the transfer window nears its opening, Brondby CEO Carsten Jansen has spoken about the Danish attackers’ future.

‘More’ interest expected in Kvistgaarden

He wants to improve his team’s fortunes in Europe but Jansen admits that he could end up losing his star player as interest in the 22-year-old remains.

Jansen said [Daily Record], We have an ambition to establish ourselves at the top of Danish football, play regularly in Europe and lift ourselves to a new level.

“That would be a good step on the way. We must have a competitive squad. As a starting point, it’s not because too many people have to go out, but there will be turnover over the summer.

“There was some interest previously and we expect more. It’s also nice to have some new blood and so on.”

With 10 goals and seven assists in 28 appearances this season, the form that first alerted Celtic to Kvistgaarden last year seems to have carried on. [Transfermarkt]

Brondby seems to be holding out for top-dollar for their prized attacker with figures like £7.5m being banded about as enough to secure his signature.

Whether or not Celtic would go to that price is one thing but Jansen’s comments do seem to suggest that he is resigned to losing Kvistgaarden in the upcoming transfer window.
