Wolves keen on £25m striker but two PL rivals also interested, Saudi switch also possible - journalist

Wolves are seemingly facing a lot of competition over one of their targets heading to the summer transfer window.

Gary O’Neil is gearing up for his first full summer window at Wolves, after arriving late on ahead of the last one.

Fans are optimistic that there will be some talented players coming through the door, with fewer heading out as was the case last year.

The club’s financial situation is much better now after many top stars were offloaded, and there have already been a few links to new players.

But one man who continues to be linked with Wolves is Armando Broja, a player Wolves tried and failed to sign on loan in the January window. Gary O’Neil admitted he was a player the club looked at, but ultimately Chelsea’s demands for a loa were too high.

Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update…

Broja ended up completing a loan to Fulham in January, with the Cottagers reportedly paying around £4 million to take him for the rest of the season.

It was a move that didn’t go well for the Albanian. He made just eight appearances for them and did not score.

He just couldn’t convince manager Marco Silva to play him more ahead of the likes of Rodrigo Muniz and former Old Gold number nine Raul Jimenez.

But despite his poor 2024, interest in Broja is still pretty high. Journalist Ben Jacobs says as many as five European clubs are keen. He wrote on X: “Armando Broja expected to leave Chelsea this summer, but he won’t return to Fulham.

“Understand Wolves, Crystal Palace and Everton are three Premier League clubs interested. Monaco and Milan both tracking Broja as well.

“Broja also open to a Saudi move. Al-Shabab have looked at him in the past. £25m is the ballpark clubs are considering, despite Chelsea valuing him at double that prior to his Fulham loan.”

Broja hasn’t shown enough to warrant such a fee

It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea had slashed their asking price for Broja. But £25 million still feels a bit steep.

Broja did nothing at Fulham, and has only scored eight goals in the Premier League in 66 appearances across three clubs.

The issue for Wolves here is that, given the number of clubs interested, it’s likely someone else is going to be willing to pay what Chelsea are asking.

Broja does have good potential. And it’s very possible he would do well under O’Neil, who has improved plenty of players since stepping through the door at Molineux.

Broja is an out-and-out striker with a good turn of pace and so, O’Neil might really want the club to push for him.
