'Keep building': Kieran Gibbs addresses what Inter Miami have to do now to get better

Kieran Gibbs has shared how Inter Miami can improve after last night’s surprise 3-1 loss to Atlanta United.

The Herons surrendered their ten-game unbeaten run to the Five Stripes, who in turn secured their first win in two months as Tata Martino’s former side punished Inter Miami with a complete performance in Florida.

Whilst Lionel Messi was back on the scoresheet, the Argentine international saw an incredible personal record of his snap last night as a result of Atlanta blowing Inter Miami away at Chase Stadium.

Inter Miami urged to keep building their squad and to be sensible

Speaking on the Inter Miami Weekly Show, the ex-England international highlighted that Inter Miami need to keep heading in the direction they’re currently on, with Gibbs urging the Herons to also iron out their mistakes.

Inter Miami have been found guilty of starting games poorly this season as well as conceding too many goals from set-pieces, and the Florida franchise have to solve these issues if they’re to compete for MLS Cup.

Gibbs said when asked how Inter Miami can improve their squad even further and how the Herons can take their game to the next level: “I think they just need to keep building.

“We have seen set-pieces are a problem but that’s been quiet recently, we used to start games in a sloppy manner, but we’re starting to settle. For me, now, it’s all about keeping the squad fit and healthy and keeping them confident.”

Inter Miami have to address defensive issues this summer

Inter Miami’s issues at the back have been documented long before Messi even joined the Florida franchise, and the Herons will need to get to the bottom of these problems for good in the summer.

A strong defense and a good tactical plan at the back is the basis for a strong run to MLS Cup glory, and with Inter Miami’s attack as good as it can possible be, attention must now be shifted towards the other side of the pitch.

Indeed, Inter Miami have the star power to attract a superstar name this summer to come help sort out the defense, and fans will be hopeful that such a signing can be made once the transfer window is open.
