‘Firmly believe’: Fabrizio Romano shares Rodrygo update amid Man City transfer interest

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update regarding the future of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo amid recent transfer links to Manchester City.

It was recently reported by Marca that the Manchester club are interested in signing the Brazilian, who could be featuring in tomorrow’s Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.

Now though, one transfer expert has shared some behind-the-scenes details regarding the winger and what the upcoming summer transfer window and beyond could hold for him.

In a recent post shared on his official X account, Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Rodrygo’s position ahead of the summer transfer window remains clear: he’s absolutely planning to stay at Real Madrid.

“Rodrygo and his camp firmly believe this is the best technical project in the world and he’s currently not planning any change.”

Since joining Real from Santos back in the 2019 summer transfer window, the 23-year-old has made 215 appearances across all competitions, scoring 54 goals and delivering 41 assists along the way.

This season has seen the Brazil international start 42 of the 50 games he’s appeared in across all competitions, finding the back of the net 17 times and supplying nine assists.

This shows how much of an important figure he is for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

City may have to wait to sign Rodrygo

Now that Romano has highlighted how Rodrygo wants to stay at Real this summer, and the fact that his contract at the Spanish club isn’t set to expire until 2028, this makes it unlikely that City will be able to land a transfer deal for him during the upcoming summer window.

However, bearing in mind how Real have Endrick joining them in July and look likely to land Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer at some point this summer, if Rodrygo potentially finds himself not being a regular starter, this could make a move to City an option for him if he decides he wants to leave his current club.
