Steidten makes £25 million bid for electric winger and he wants West Ham move - report

West Ham United are acting ruthlessly in the transfer market this summer, with Tim Steidten leading the charge for new signings.

West Ham are heading down more of a continental route now, with Julen Lopetegui working directly with Tim Steidten when it comes to player recruitment.

Lopetegui’s job is purely to coach the squad he has at his disposal, whilst Steidten will go out and sign the players perfectly suited to the Spaniard’s system.

David Moyes did a very good job on the whole during his time at the London Stadium, but the squad he has left behind is completely lopsided, and to call it an ageing group would be an understatement.

At the start of next season, we will have just seven players under the age of 29, if our current squad remains intact.

That obviously has to change, and with Moyes gone now, we can definitely start planning for the future.

The addition of an exceptionally talented young winger with a really high ceiling should be right at the top of Lopetegui’s wish-list.

And it seems as though the Spaniard is thinking along exactly those lines…

Tim Steidten makes winger bid and he wants West Ham move

Lopetegui absolutely has to bolster his attacking ranks before the start of the new season.

And the Spaniard has surely instructed Steidten to go out and find him a top-class winger, with youth on his side.

If the latest reports coming out of Brazil are to be believed, the German hasn’t disappointed with that remit.

The latest claim contradicts a report that emerged yesterday about the Hammers’ attempts to sign Palmeiras attacker Luis Guilherme.

According to UOL, West Ham have made a £25 million bid for the 18-year-old – £4 million more than was previously reported.

And what’s more, Guilherme has given the ‘green light’ to the West Ham move.

Whether £25 million will be enough to get the deal done remains to be seen, but if West Ham manage to pull this one off, he would be a truly sensational signing for the club.

The 18-year-old is a left-footed right winger by trade but can also play on the left, or in the number 10 position.

Guilherme is technically brilliant, as most Brazilians are, and plays with a real kind of fearlessness that makes him so unpredictable.

The Palmeiras winger is at his best when cutting inside from the right onto his favoured left foot.

This summer is when Tim Steidten really needs to earn his crust at West Ham, and a move to sign the supremely talented Luis Guilherme will signal just how ambitious he is to help take us to the next level.
