Celtic announce fifth pre-season match of the summer ahead of USA tour

Celtic are already filling out their pre-season schedule nicely as anticipation gets underway ahead of the new campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are pencilled in to face Ayr United at Somerset Park on July 5th, which will provoke a reunion between the Irishman and his former captain, Scott Brown, to celebrate the opening of their new North Stand.

Of course, there is also the prospect of the Bhoys heading Stateside to look forward to later in the month, with three glamour ties lined up against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Now, the club have announced their fifth friendly of the pre-season schedule as preparations begin for what will hopefully be another exciting season.

Celtic confirm they will take on Queens Park in pre-season

Earlier today, Celtic announced that they will take on Scottish Championship outfit Queens Park at The city Stadium (otherwise known as Lesser Hampden) on Wednesday, July 10th, with kick-off commencing at 7.45 pm [Celtic FC].

In the first encounter between the two Glasgow sides since 2009, the Hoops will have an opportunity to gain some ideal preparation before heading to the United States following their bout against Ayr United.

The club website notes that the city Stadium has a capacity of around 900 supporters, so there will be no ‘public sale’ of away tickets for supporters to snap up.

Nevertheless, Celtic have added another date to their diary, and fans will hope they could sneak a peek at one or two new signings by that point in time.

Excitement is building ahead of 2024/25 and it is refreshing to see the Hoops take on some local opposition to sharpen up for competitive action.
