Exclusive: Leeds United want Sheffield United star, emerging as top summer target

Leeds United are already planning for their Championship promotion charge for next season and one of their top transfer targets has emerged as Daniel Jebbison, HITC understands.

The Sheffield United forward is out-of-contract at Bramall Lane and despite their best efforts,The Blades have failed to agree fresh terms with the Canadian-born England youth international.

The 20-year-old missed most of the season after suffering a blood clot, but his long-term fitness was never in doubt and he returned to action towards the end of the campaign.

Leeds want to sign Daniel Jebbison from Sheffield United

HITC understands that Jebbison has generated offers from around England and Europe, but Leeds are hopeful of landing him after identifying him as a key summer target.

However, Leeds’ technical director Gretar Steinsson – who previously spotted Jebbison during his time at Everton – is looking to bring in Jebbison as they want to bring an extended physicality and youth to the squad, especially in the striking department.

We understand that Everton, Brighton and newly promoted Ipswich and Leicester are amongst those clubs who have made moves to try and land him, whilst Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Monaco have also expressed an interest.

If Jebbison does indeed depart Bramall Lane, it will be a major loss for manager Chris Wilder – who had been holding out hope he would remain.

The club’s chief executive CEO Stephen Bettis recently stated they were hopeful of a deal.

“We as a club, he is someone we would love to get him nailed down to a longer term contract and as I say we are having positive discussions with him now,” he told the Sheffield Star.
