'He is better': Jason Cundy thinks £30m player linked with Chelsea would go into the starting XI

Jason Cundy thinks Chelsea have been linked with a £30m player that would go straight into the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge.

Apart from a brief spell towards the end of last season, Mauricio Pochettino constantly changed with his starting line-up. The Blues actually used a total of 32 different players during the 2023/24.

Here below are the Premier League teams that used the most players last season (Transfermarkt).

Incidentally, Fulham, Arsenal and Manchester City finished bottom of this by only using 25 players each.

So, will incoming Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca be able to find some consistency with his side? And will he get any new recruits to strengthen the squad?

Jason Cundy says Chelsea target would start

Jason Cundy believes that Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, who’s been linked with a move to Chelsea, is better than any goalkeeper currently at the club.

He’s claimed that the 26-year-old gloveman would go straight into Chelsea’s XI ahead of Djordje Petrovic or Robert Sanchez.

When discussing Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal, Perry Groves said on talkSPORT: “They will let him go. Would you take him, Chelsea?”

Cundy responded: “I think we probably would actually.”

Groves added: “He is better than what you have got.”

Cundy agreed: “He is better than what we have got. I don’t disagree with that.”

Aaron Ramsdale links

Journalist Simon Phillips reported via his Substack this week that Chelsea’s board are actually split when it comes to their interest in signing Arsenal’s Ramsdale this summer.

Ramsdale is a decent goalkeeper regularly in the squads of Arsenal and England, but the fact is he’s not the first choice in-between the sticks for either.
