Report: West Ham advancing in talks over 'extremely dangerous' £47m attacker, he's keen on Hammers switch

West Ham United will be eager to strengthen their ranks this summer after a somewhat underwhelming 2023/24 campaign.

The Hammers finished ninth in the Premier League table, missing out on European qualification following two great seasons on that front.

A new era also beckons at West Ham, with former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui coming in to replace David Moyes in the Hammers dugout.

The Hammers haven’t wasted any time in pursuing targets ahead of the transfer window opening in June.

For instance, they’ve reportedly been in talks with Flamengo defender Fabricio Bruno, although that deal appears to have stalled of late.

West Ham are apparently also trying to sign Palmeiras attacker Luis Guilherme, and Brazilian outlet UOL has provided an update on that front.

What is the latest on West Ham and Luis Guilherme?

UOL have claimed that the Hammers are advancing in talks over signing the 18-year-old after club officials travelled to Brazil for discussions.

West Ham apparently offered an initial €30million (£25.5million), while add-ons and bonuses are still being discussed.

The Hammers are reportedly confident of a breakthrough as Guilherme has given the go-ahead to a potential switch to the London Stadium.

Guilherme is said to have a €55million (£47million) release clause in his contract, but there seems to be a good chance West Ham could sign him for less than that.

Who is West Ham target Luis Guilherme?

Luis Guilherme has risen through the Palmeiras ranks and broke into the first-team last year. He has made 44 competitive senior appearances to date for the club.

In 2022, Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig wrote an in-depth scouting report about Guilherme, giving him a 9 out of 10 potential rating.

Kulig likened Guilherme to Henrikh Mkhitaryan and deemed him a “highly technical and creative player” who is “extremely dangerous on the counter” and a “spectacular dribbler.

West Ham seem to be making good progress on this front, so let’s hope for a breakthrough in the coming weeks, maybe even days.
