Report claims West Ham are about to receive £25 million bids for 28-year-old

One West Ham United player could be set to leave the club this summer, in what could be a big boost for Julen Lopetegui.

Julen Lopetegui is eyeing a big shakeup at the London Stadium this summer, with the West Ham manager on the hunt for at least six new signings.

It has been claimed that the Hammers boss has a budget of around £85-100 million this summer, so any player sales will obviously boost that kitty.

With so many new players required at West Ham, £100 million won’t get Lopetegui very far this summer.

And with Lucas Paqueta having been charged by the FA for potential betting breaches, it seems like he’ll be staying at the London Stadium this summer.

So without the £85 million we could have received for the Brazilian, who else could be sold in order to raise some funds?

There are plenty of players who could be deemed surplus to requirements by Lopetegui, including the likes of Michail Antonio, Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes and Kurt Zouma.

In fairness, most of our squad could be considered as ‘up for sale’ aside from the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, Alphonse Areola and Emerson Palmieri.

And one player in particular could fetch a very decent fee indeed…

Julen Lopetegui’s summer budget to get a big boost

If the Spaniard is to bring in six top-class new recruits this summer, he will surely need to spend at least £150 million.

And the Hammers boss has seemingly been presented with a great opportunity to bolster his current budget of around £100 million.

One of David Moyes’s biggest signings could be on his way out of the club before the end of the summer transfer window.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that West Ham are set to receive €30 million (£25 million) bids from Ligue 1 duo Rennes and Lyon for Aguerd.

The 28-year-old’s representatives have already admitted that their client could leave the London Stadium this summer.

I think that selling Aguerd for £25 million would be a great deal for us.

I don’t think he’s a bad player with the ball at his feet, but he definitely doesn’t have the physical attributes required to succeed in the Premier League.

The Morocco international gets bullied by opposing attackers far too regularly, and he is completely lost from a positional sense when the ball is played over his shoulder into the channels.

A return to France would be ideal for Aguerd, and Julen Lopetegui’s summer budget will get a very big boost in the process.
