Baseball: Lions stun Giants with 9th-inning rally

The Seibu Lions staged a ninth-inning rally for a 4-3 walk-off win Saturday over the Yomiuri Giants on back-to-back two-out RBI singles by Takuya Hiruma and Hiyu Motoyama.

Motoyama brought the Lions within a run in the eighth with a pinch-hit solo homer, stayed in the game and then singled home the winning run at Belluna Dome.

Seibu's Ichiro Tamura (1-0) won in relief. Yomiuri closer Alberto Baldonado (1-1) yielded two runs on three hits and a walk in the ninth.

Among Saturday's other interleague games, Aito Takeda hit a walk-off double in the 11th inning as the Lotte Marines edged the Hanshin Tigers 3-2 to extend their unbeaten streak to 15 games.

Since May 14, Lotte has picked up 11 wins and four ties.
