‘Properly announced himself’: Dominic Solanke says one Man City player has blossomed this season

Dominic Solanke has said that a Manchester City player has been one of the best performers across Europe this season.

The Bournemouth striker has had a brilliant campaign under Andoni Iraola, scoring 21 goals in 42 games across all competitions for the Cherries.

In fact, only four other players in the Premier League had more shots at goal throughout the campaign than the Englishman (106).

Now though, the 26-year-old has highlighted another top-flight figure he feels has had an even better season than him this term.

Dominic Solanke names Phil Foden as his standout player in Europe this season

Speaking in a recent video shared on the Rising Ballers YouTube channel, Solanke had this to say when asked who he feels has been the standout player in Europe this season.

He said: “I would probably say Foden.

“I think he has been at City for so long with so many big players where he has always been in and around, but I feel like this season he has properly announced himself as one of their top, top players, so I would probably say Phil Foden.”

In 53 games across all competitions this season, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net 27 times and provided 12 assists.

Foden’s star season

With 35 Premier League games under his belt, Foden scored the same number of goals as Solanke (19) and delivered eight assists to help his side win their sixth title in seven years.

Then in the FA Cup and Champions League, the midfielder scored seven goals and supplied four assists in 13 combined appearances.

Having been named the FWA’s, Premier League’s and City’s player of the season, it’s easy to see why Solanke has been so impressed by his fellow countryman and what he’s done on the pitch this season.
