Aston Villa star Leon Bailey sends six-word message to Jack Grealish on Instagram

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey has sent a six-word message to Jack Grealish on Instagram.

The 2023/24 campaign drew to a close with Aston Villa celebrating Champions League football for the first time in 41 years.

Unai Emery was the man who masterminded their rise into the Premier League’s top four as the Spaniard tactically outsmarted the likes of Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola on their way to sealing a place in Europe’s elite competition.

Whilst it’s a season that will go down in the club’s history, it was also a year when several players reached the pinnacle of their powers. Emi Martinez was phenomenal in between the sticks, Ollie Watkins was unstoppable in front of goal and Leon Bailey was electric on the wing.

Bailey, in particular, showed the potential that Steven Gerrard failed to unlock during his time at the club after scoring 12 and assisting 13 in all competitions.

The jet-heeled Jamaican was simply breathtaking to watch at times and has locked down his position on the right flank.

Bailey has established himself as a current hero at Villa Park, and the 26-year-old has now sent a message to one of their former heroes, Jack Grealish.

Most of the Aston Villa squad are preparing for a summer of international football after a gruelling season for their clubs.

While that is the case for Martinez (Argentina), Ezri Konsa and Watkins (England), to name a few, Bailey is currently suspended from the Jamaica national team. In November’s Nations League quarter-final against Canada, the winger broke team rules by leaving the hotel after the 10 pm curfew.

So, while his teammates are preparing for international tournaments, Bailey is enjoying some downtime in Cancun, Mexico.

He uploaded a post on Instagram of him in a restaurant and former Villa hero Grealish responded with two claps and raised hand emojis.

Bailey then responded to the England international by saying: “Tryna live like you my bro”.

Bailey joined Aston Villa in August 2021 just before Grealish completed a record £100 million move to Manchester City.

The pair never got the opportunity to play with each other, but the future of the Man City man is up in the air this summer…

Jack Grealish future at Manchester City assessed

Grealish left his boyhood club to become a trophy-winning machine in Manchester, getting his hands on almost everything there is to win.

The 28-year-old played a starring role in their 2022/23 treble-winning campaign, playing 50 games in all competitions with five goals and 11 assists.

Sadly, his involvement and form under Pep Guardiola decreased dramatically in 2023/24, playing 31 times but scoring just three and assisting once.

Grealish is currently going through a rough patch and with Jeremy Doku performing brilliantly down the left, his future is up in the air.

Naturally, rumours have begun regarding a possible return to Villa Park this summer ahead of a Champions League campaign.

Whilst it would be a dream for most to see Grealish don the claret and blue shirt under the famous lights, it’s a transfer that doesn’t look possible due to their PSR constraints and the Englishman’s unrealistic wage demands.

It isn’t a transfer that should be ruled out but Emery has other problems to resolve, like a new right back and central midfielder before a fairytale return for Grealish is on the cards.
