Lilys in Diss targets quartet of Salon Business Awards

A Diss hair salon, with a proud history of winning accolades in recognition of its work, is in the running for a clutch of awards.

Lilys, in Victoria Road, will go head-to-head with some of the top-performing hair specialists in the industry at next week’s 2024 Salon Business Awards.

It has been shortlisted for four awards and will now contest the Design Salon, Education Salon, Global Stylist and Ultimate Salon categories.

Alice Harvey, who runs the venture with her partner, Callum, said it felt incredible to have made it to the final.

“We were finalists last year in one category, but to get so many this time around shows that all our hard work and effort has been worth it,” said the 31-year-old. “It is just brilliant.”

Mrs Harvey opened Lilys at the age of 18 in 2011. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, picking up a number of awards along the way.

The business, which has a team of six, expanded in 2022, when a residential property above the salon was transformed – a point the judges have picked up on.

Mrs Harvey said: “The design salon category, which we are in this time, is down to how we made the expansion look. It is great to see that we have been recognised for that.”

The pair now face a nervous wait ahead of attending the awards ceremony in London on Monday.

“We are being judged by some of the biggest names in the industry, so fingers crossed,” said Mrs Harvey.

“I hope they see that we deliver a different service to most salons, giving our full attention to everyone that comes through our door.

“We are constantly growing, training and supporting our team to keep their skills up to date with ever-changing industry trends.”

On the support that Lilys continues to receive, Mrs Harvey said she cannot thank everyone enough.

She added: “Our clients and wonderful team give us such great support. We appreciate it all and hope we can bring something back on Monday by way of thanks.”
