Kharkiv has completed a search operation at the site of the attack on a high-rise building in the Novobavarskyi district that took place on the night of May 31. Local authorities have also clarified the number of victims, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

"The rescue and search operation in Novobavarskyi district has been completed. Today, rescuers found fragments of another body under the rubble. In total, 8 people died during the terrorist attack on the residential building. Another 26 were injured," Terekhov said on Telegram.

Syniehubov clarified that some fragments of the eighth victim were sent for DNA examination to identify the dead.

Shelling in Kharkiv

On the night of May 31, the Russian army attacked Kharkiv with S-300 missiles from the territory of the Belgorod region. A five-story building in the Novobavarskyi district of the city and an enterprise came under attack. One person was killed as a result of the shelling of the enterprise.

The search operations at the site of the five-story building hit lasted more than a day. Today, rescuers found the body of a 75-year-old woman under the rubble near the building. She was probably thrown out into the yard by the blast wave.
