Pegasus Door Company in Hadleigh named best small business in Suffolk at annual awards

A door supplier is celebrating after being named the best small business in Suffolk – just three years into life.

The Pegasus Door Company – which supplies domestic, industrial and commercial clients from its warehouse in Hadleigh – achieved a double dose of success at the Suffolk Small Business Awards.

In addition to being named the overall winner at the ceremony in Ipswich earlier this month, Pegasus also picked up the accolade for Best Service Small Business.

The recognition marks the firm’s rapid rise from its origins in the garage of Colchester-born Toby Bursill back in 2021, to its current status as a regional supplier.

Having joined the Army at age 17, Mr Bursill served in the 7 Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, before moving into engineering following his medical discharge from the Armed Forces.

This change in career focus led him to found Pegasus, which is named in homage to his old regiment.

Mr Bursill explained that the military values of ‘respect, punctuality and uniformity’ are a key factor in the company’s success, with a particular focus delivering a strong customer experience.

“Happy engineers mean happy customers,” he said. “Respect for others carries through to the quality of our work.

“This award is a nod to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, who uphold these values every day.

“Winning these awards is a humbling experience and a significant milestone for The Pegasus Door Company.

“It validates our efforts to provide exceptional service and reinforces our commitment to our customers and community.

“We are proud of our journey and excited for the future as we continue to grow and innovate.”

Alongside its regular services, The Pegasus Door Company is also active in the charity sector, supporting the Armed Forces Covenant, the Airborne Gunners Trust and Combat2Coffee.
