Teenage boy arrested after blaze at Delphi factory in Sudbury which prompted large fire service response

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a huge fire at a derelict factory in a Suffolk town.

Police were called to the disused Delphi engineering site, in Newton Road, Sudbury, at just after 5pm yesterday, following reports of suspected criminal damage.

Multiple engines attended the scene and community leaders have expressed their shock at the incident with a re-inspection of the 22-acre factory site currently under way.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson said a 14-year-old boy had been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently bailed to return on July 6.
