Chelsea signed £39m player last summer, he now faces a fight for his future - opinion

Enzo Maresca’s first signing as Chelsea manager is going to arrive very quickly.

The Leicester City boss has agreed to join Chelsea on a five-year deal, and he will not be the only new face at Stamford Bridge this summer.

On Saturday, the reliable Fabrizio Romano reported that the Blues were close to signing Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

A free transfer with Premier League experience, bringing in the 26-year-old does make some sense.

However, it could have ramifications for a couple of current Chelsea players.

Which Chelsea players could be in danger following Tosin Adarabioyo’s arrival?

One Chelsea star who is almost certain to be impacted by Adarabioyo’s imminent arrival is Trevoh Chalobah.

Even before Saturday’s news about the Fulham man, the 24-year-old was already being linked with a move to Manchester United.

It has now been claimed that Chalobah could be sold quickly as Chelsea close in on the signing of Adarabioyo.

The former England U21 international is not the only player at Stamford Bridge who could find himself in a bit of trouble, though. Axel Disasi must also be sweating right now.

Axel Disasi faces fight for Chelsea place

Chelsea only signed Disasi from AS Monaco last summer in a £38.8m deal, but he is already at risk of becoming surplus to requirements.

Disasi was a regular this season, making 44 appearances in all competitions, but he lost his spot in the team towards the end of the campaign.

The Frenchman did not start any of Chelsea’s last five games, though he was injured for at least one of them.

Already having to compete against Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and now possibly Adarabioyo, Disasi may not get back into the Chelsea team.

Any chance Disasi gets under Maresca, starting from pre-season, the 26-year-old has to take it, otherwise he could find himself low in the pecking order and fighting for his Chelsea future.
