Report: PL manager thinks 'fantastic' Chelsea player would be a great signing, he's available to buy

One Chelsea player is reportedly attracting interest from a rival Premier League club going into this summer window. In fact, their manager really likes the idea of stealing the Blues star away from Stamford Bridge.

It might not have been the smoothest of 2023/24 seasons at Chelsea, but there’s several individuals that still came out of it positively following a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

The Telegraph has claimed that incoming Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has asked for three signings to help the squad this summer.

However, how many players will the Blues lose in the same window?

Aston Villa want Chelsea player

The Independent claims that Aston Villa have a ‘strong interest’ in signing Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

It is explained that the Blues are willing to sell the 24-year-old midfielder because they’re trying to adhere to Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The report says that Villa are keen on Gallagher as they try bolster their squad for the Champions League next season. It’s stated that Villa boss Unai Emery believes the Chelsea box-to-box central midfielder would suit his team’s style of football.

In addition, Tottenham are still looking at the England international, but they would have found it easier trying to sign him last year.

How can Blues fill Conor Gallagher hole?

If Gallagher does go, he’ll leave behind a huge void because he was outstanding last season. He ended up with seven goals and nine assists in 50 matches across all competitions.

Described as “fantastic” by Mauricio Pochettino via Football.London in February, Gallagher ticks every box as a versatile midfielder.

Unfortunately, The Evening Standard previously reported that Gallagher is one of four Chelsea players that the club hope to sell before the end of the June.

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks it’s a really tough job replacing Gallagher’s energy and quality in midfield.

It’s not a like-for-like replacement, but perhaps Romeo Lavia could be part of the solution if he can get himself fit again.

A midfield trio of Lavia, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo looks extremely strong on paper.
