Report: Tottenham now join Man United in race to sign 'excellent' teenager who would cost less than £0.5m

Tottenham Hotspur have joined Manchester United in the race to sign an ‘excellent’ teenager this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Ange Postecoglou is eager to bolster his squad this summer ahead of a return to European football next season.

The Australian boss has implemented a completely different style at the North London club and progression has certainly been made.

As the summer window rapidly approaches, it seems he’s targeting a move for a teenage midfielder along with United.

Tottenham Hotspur eye Celtic midfielder Daniel Kelly

According to the Daily Record, Spurs are keeping tabs on Celtic’s ‘excellent’ Daniel Kelly, who is attracting interest from a number of suitors.

The 18-year-old can speak to interested parties in July when he enters the final six months of his contract and Postecoglou is eager to bring him to North London.

Kelly is keen to remain a Celtic player but it’s thought suitors are willing to triple his wages, which could tempt him to depart.

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have made a formal approach for his signature and Serie A sides Bologna and Como are circling.

The cost Daniel Kelly

Any forthcoming suitor would only have to outlay £490,000 in training competition to land Kelly’s signature this summer.

Indeed, if he is to pen a new deal with The Hoops, that price would quickly rise and likely fend off interest from Spurs.

So, a telling few weeks await, as Kelly ponders on whether to extend his deal which runs out at the end of the year.
