Report: After Jakub Kiwior, AC Milan now also interested in signing £30m Arsenal star

After recently making Jakub Kiwior their ‘priority’ signing this summer, AC Milan are also interested in an approach for another Arsenal talent.

It promises to be a busy summer at the Emirates, with Mikel Arteta expected to oversee something of a squad overhaul.

That may be a surprise given how strong Arsenal have been this season, but the reality of how quickly the club are progressing is leaving a lot of players behind.

All four of Arsenal’s major signings last summer: Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya are definite starters when fit, meaning others have taken a step back.

And when you consider that Edu Gaspar will be hoping to oversee a similar influx of world-class players this summer, it’s understandable that players will leave.

Jakub Kiwior, who has recently been detailed as one of AC Milan’s key targets, doesn’t necessarily fit into that bracket, given he’s providing important cover at left centre-back and at left-back.

But Arsenal would seemingly be much more willing to part ways with Aaron Ramsdale, who is the latest player to be linked with the Rossoneri.

AC Milan now interested in signing Aaron Ramsdale given Mike Maignan may leave

According to Sunday’s edition of The Sun (02/06, page 65), Milan have looked into a ‘surprise’ move for Ramsdale given the possibility that Mike Maignan could leave.

In something of a goalkeeper merry-go-round this summer, Manchester City are said to be interested in Maignan should Ederson depart – who has interest from Saudi Arabia.

Of course, Arsenal would likely welcome Milan’s interest, providing they can match the club’s strict £30m asking price.

Arsenal have been criticised for the fees they’ve recouped when selling players in recent windows – something the club appear to be addressing.

And whilst it seems fairly certain that Ramsdale will leave this summer, the club shouldn’t be in a rush, even if that means delaying a move for Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow.

There’s evidently a desire at Arsenal to conclude their business promptly, which should be applauded, but that can’t be at the expense of retrieving the right sums for those leaving.

All that being said, Arsenal have just submitted a bid for a striker who’s often compared to Erling Haaland.
