Winger's club now reportedly want to sign Arsenal player he said could become one of the Premier League's best

Mikel Arteta is going to be prepared to make some ruthless decisions in the summer transfer window as Arsenal look to do the business which will get them over the line in the Premier League title race.

Of course, the Gunners will be looking for their marquee signings, but they will also hope to move players on to boost their spending power in the market.

And one player who looks set to leave Arsenal in the coming months is Emile Smith Rowe, with the attacking midfielder struggling for minutes over the last two years.

It appears that he may not have to move too far away, with The Telegraph reporting that Fulham have made Smith Rowe a priority for this window as Marco Silva’s men look to build on their promising campaign.

What Willian once said about Emile Smith Rowe as Fulham eye Arsenal star

There could be something of an overhaul at Craven Cottage this summer, with The Telegraph noting that Willian and Bobby Decordova-Reid are currently out of contract.

So Smith Rowe could perhaps get the chance to take his place in a new-look Fulham attack next year – and it may be a signing Willian is very much in favour of.

Willian – who is considering options from elsewhere, including Saudi Arabia – played 13 times alongside Smith Rowe during his ill-fated spell at Arsenal.

And in 2021, Willian noted how much potential he believed Smith Rowe could have.

“He is a fantastic player and I think he has a great future. He has technique and everything to become one of the best players in the League and I am happy for him,” he said.

Youngster could replace winger at Craven Cottage next year

Smith Rowe would go on to score 10 league goals the season after those comments were made, and it seemed that he was indeed destined for greatness.

Unfortunately, injury halted the England international’s development, and he has not really been able to regain his place since.

Smith Rowe has made plenty of appearances for Arsenal from the left, so there is a chance that he could potentially replace Willian if the Brazilian does indeed leave this summer.

If he is able to get his career back on track, he could be a game-changing signing for the Cottagers – judging by Willian’s previous comments.
