Report: Aston Villa would accept ‘superstar’ plus £42.5 million in swap deal for Douglas Luiz this summer

Aston Villa are reportedly willing to accept a player plus cash deal for their star Douglas Luiz this summer.

Douglas Luiz certainly isn’t short of admirers ahead of the summer after a dazzling campaign under Unai Emery.

Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in the Brazilian while Manchester United and Barcelona are also said to be keen.

It’s no surprise to see the Aston Villa star turning heads after playing a key role in a surprise top-four finish last season.

Juventus are also among the clubs said to be monitoring Luiz and while the Old Lady lack the financial muscle of interested Premier League sides, TuttoJuve claims Villa would be willing to accept one of their players as part of a deal for the midfielder.

Villa would accept Weston McKennie swap deal for Luiz

TuttoJuve claims that Villa are not willing to offload Luiz on the cheap this summer.

But it’s claimed that they would accept Weston McKennie as part of a deal for the Brazilian.

Indeed, it would take an offer worth around €50 million [£42.5 million] plus McKennie for Juve to land Luiz.

McKennie swap deal unlikely

It’s no secret that Villa need to raise funds due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

With that in mind, it would be a huge surprise to see the Villains accept a player-plus-cash deal for one of their stars.

McKennie didn’t exactly excel during his short spell in England with Leeds United during the 2022-23 campaign either.

The ‘superstar’ midfielder’s form has improved over the past year though as he racked up 10 assists for Juve last term.

Nevertheless, it would hardly go down well with Villa’s supporters if the club offloaded Luiz and brought in McKennie after securing a Champions League spot.
