What sources are saying about Enzo Maresca and transfers at Chelsea, it’s different to Pochettino – journalist

Journalist Dean Jones has stated that there could be some new rules in place when it comes to transfers at Chelsea this summer.

It is expected today that Enzo Maresca is announced as the new manager at Chelsea, bringing to an end what has been a relatively swift process in replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

The belief is that the Argentine was not replaced based on what happened on the pitch, and instead things off the pitch contributed to his exit on mutual terms.

A lot of reports have stated that it came down to transfers where the disagreements came in, while his comments in the media did little to help his case.

There were reports that Pochettino was working to an Under 25s transfer policy, which explains a lot of emphasis being put on young additions last summer.

Maresca set to have say on transfers

However, Jones has claimed to GiveMeSport that this could be about to change when Maresca comes in, and the strict rule may well end up being relaxed.

He said: “Sources say that Maresca will have a say on transfers, and may even get to sign players beyond the age of 25. But they may not all be of the same profile or age that Poch had in mind.”

Maresca wants James McAtee

Reports today have stated that the Italian is keen for the Blues to bring in James McAtee from Manchester City, after the youngster was part of the Sheffield United side who were relegated last season.

While many will likely not be inspired by these reports, there will always be interest in signing a young player from the Champions after the success of Cole Palmer last season.

Given the fact Maresca has plenty of experience working with players from the academy at the Etihad, and he will have a good understanding of who could make an impact on the Blues.
