Report: Nottingham Forest now make contact to sign Brazilian who PSG tried to buy in 2023

Nottingham Forest have now made contact to sign a Brazilian player who PSG wanted to buy in 2023.

The Garibaldi are no strangers when it comes to signing South American footballers, having snapped up the likes of Murillo, Danilo, Felipe, Nicolas Dominguez and Gonzalo Montiel in recent years.

Now, Ross Wilson is trying to bring another South American to the City Ground as Nottingham Forest target a Brazilian…

Nottingham Forest enquire about Andrew

Nottingham Forest are now trying to sign an English-sounding Brazilian of their own, after Manchester United snapped up the likes of Antony and Fred.

A story by UOL states that the Reds have made contact with Gil Vicente to ask about Andrew.

Feyenoord – fresh from losing Arne Slot to Liverpool – have also been in touch with the Portuguese outfit to ask about the glovesman from Duque de Caxias.

UOL believe Andrew could change clubs this summer, although Nottingham Forest’s interest has not gone beyond an initial enquiry yet, with the Reds yet to make an offer.

The South American news outlet add that Feyenoord were actually the ones to go into more detail when enquiring about the 22-year-old, which suggests the Dutch side hold a stronger desire to sign him.

Andrew made 35 appearances across all competitions for Gil Vicente throughout the 2023/24 campaign, keeping nine clean sheets while conceding 51 goals.

UOL add that PSG, Porto and Braga all tried to sign the Gil Vicente No.42 in 2023, and he is considered to be one of the Primeira Liga side’s best players.

A reasonably priced deal would make sense

In our view, Andrew seems like a sensible signing as Nottingham Forest attempt to find a backup option for Matz Sels.

At the age of just 22, the Brazilian surely wouldn’t expect to arrive in the Premier League and immediately become the No.1 choice.

Therefore, Andrew represents a wise long-term option who can play in the cup competitions and learn from the experienced Sels (aged 32) behind the scenes, with a view to replacing the Belgian when he is past his best.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the South American is not the only young goalkeeper Nottingham Forest have made contact to sign…
