Report: West Ham sucker punch as Arsenal hijack deal for 'elite' 24yo by agreeing personal terms

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a vitally important one for both West Ham United and Arsenal.

New West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui faces a huge summer transfer window ahead, and the Spaniard is desperately trying to get at least four new signings wrapped up before our pre-season campaign begins on July 20th.

The Hammers boss has to strengthen his squad in pretty much every department before the start of the new season.

Lopetegui is said to be prioritising the additions of a new centre-back and a proven goalscorer this summer.

However, there’s another area where Lopetegui should be looking to improve as a matter of urgency – his left-back ranks.

The Hammers are on the hunt for a top-class left-back, but some bad news has emerged regarding that chase.

Unfortunately for West Ham, it seems like Arsenal could be set to wreck one of Lopetegui’s most exciting transfer plans…

Arsenal deal West Ham a summer transfer window sucker punch

The Hammers are struggling to get deals over the line right now.

And now Arsenal could be set to prevent us from making what would be a huge statement signing.

Ferdi Kadioglu emerged as a transfer target for the Hammers earlier this week. However, the Gunners are clearly going to be a big problem for us in the race to sign the Fenerbahce star.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring Kadioglu to the Emirates this summer (The Sun).

And here’s the kicker – according to a report from Turkish publication Milliyet, Arsenal have actually already agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old left-back.

That’s obviously bad news for the Hammers.

Kadioglu would be an unreal signing for West Ham. Described as a player with top-level quality on the ball, and an elite talent by Breaking the Lines, the Turkish ace would add a completely different dimension to our play, what with his ability to invert into central midfield from the left-back position.

I think it’s time we accept that he won’t be coming to the London Stadium though.

I have no doubts that Ferdi Kadioglu will excel at the Emirates, if he does indeed join the Gunners.

It’s such a huge shame that West Ham didn’t move to sign him before he became such hot property and raised the awareness of Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
