Terrington St John youngster called up for this summer’s European Roller Hockey Championships in Spain

Jack Smith will represent England Under-17s at this summer’s European Roller Hockey Championships – at the age of just 14.

The St Clement’s High School pupil, who lives in Terrington St John, has been named in a 10-player squad by national coach Rui Fontes.

The Championships take place in Olot, Spain, from July 14-20.

Smith, who plays for Letchworth Roller Hockey Club, started playing at Skaters in Walpole Highway and was previously selected for Eastern Counties at Under-15 level.

Lucy Davies, from Skaters, said: "Jack has worked extremely hard to achieve this and is thankful to all the coaches over the years, who have put time and effort into developing him and made it possible."

England Roller Hockey said: “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the selected players and wish them the very best as they embark on this exciting journey to represent our country on the European stage.”
