I wanted to remove scratches on my car so tried a TikTok hack and wasn't disappointed

Scratches and dents are every car owner’s worst nightmare. Though there are “magic markers” and car wax to erase it I found an easy hack on TikTok and it only requires two basic ingredients.

There are several easy DIY hacks found on TikTok. Some like the 5-5-5 method to hard-boil eggs are highly efficient, while most are fake to chase clout. The ‘Skittles Popcorn’ is one hack from TikTok I would never recommend.

TikTok hack to remove scratches on the car

The hack to remove scratches on the car is praised by most content creators. So, I couldn’t resist trying it and the fact that it’s done using two items only made it easier.

All you need is coconut oil and white vinegar – easily available in any pantry. You can use a clean piece of cloth to apply the mixture to the affected regions.

I used about one tablespoon of coconut oil mixed with the same amount of vinegar. Once the solution was ready, it was time to put the hack to the test.

I used one corner of the cloth to dip in the solution and gently rubbed it over different parts of my car that had suffered from multiple surface, as well as deep scratches.

The solution must be gently rubbed on the scratches, just like a standard car wax to remove any marks. However, you aren’t required to rub it for a long time.

I wasn’t disappointed

You will be disappointed if you hope to fix deep scratches and dents using the DIY solution suggested by TikTok. But, you’re in for a treat if it’s a surface scratch you want to erase.

The light scratches lightened almost immediately while making the car look shinier. It barely requires any effort because the solution sticks to the car easily. It didn’t work as well on deep scratches though.

I would say I was impressed by this trick for several reasons – the little time it takes above all. However, I am unsure if this fixes the scratches permanently or if it’s only a temporary solution. The scratches appear to have gone for now; only after a thorough wash will I know how effective it is.

If you plan to try the hack at home, I recommend using very little coconut oil and vinegar on a small area of your car on the first attempt. Even though my car didn’t suffer additional damage, the vinegar may not react similarly on different cars.
