According to the White House, Harris will “underscore the U.S. leadership's commitment to Ukraine's efforts to secure a just and lasting peace based on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity” and reaffirm support for the Ukrainian people.
On April 24, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that Biden might skip the summit in Switzerland to attend a fundraiser in California.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would welcome Biden skipping the event.

The Global Peace Summit will take place on June 15-16 near Lucerne, Switzerland. As of June 3, 107 countries have confirmed their participation, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Russia will not be attending the event. Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, suggested that Russia could participate in future meetings, but not in the initial leaders' summit. At the same time, the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that a broad peace process without Russia is "unthinkable."
Expected attendees include German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, and other European leaders.
According to Zelenskyy, China and Russia are attempting to discourage other countries from participating in the summit.
