Two motorcyclists killed in Interstate 78 crash in Union County, cops say

Two motorcyclists were killed in a crash Interstate 78 on Sunday evening in Union County, authorities said.

The motorcycles were riding east through Berkeley Heights at around 6:30 p.m. when one motorcycle struck a car and then was rear-ended by the other bike, State Police said.

The first motorcycle then hit an SUV, veered off the highway and struck a sign. Both motorcycles then overturned, throwing the riders off.

The motorcyclists — Sherman Bardouille, 31, of Newark, and Tamir Lee, 42, of Irvington ,were pronounced dead at the scene near mile post 42.8. Bardouille was aboard the first motorcycle.

No one in the car or the SUV was injured. The crash remains under investigation.
