SPF moisturizer that's only $14 is my must-buy summer skincare product this year

Garnier has changed the game this month with their new SPF moisturizer that is being hailed as the must-buy skincare product of 2024.

I have always had a less-than-ideal relationship with skincare FOMO, often choosing to splash my cash on products that various sneaky algorithms have pushed my way. Though my bank account is not going to thank me anytime soon, recent finds like the snail slime hydrator are proof that some products are just that good.

Introducing the Garnier SPF moisturizer

Back in March, Garnier shocked the skincare and makeup communities with the launch of their Vitamin C Daily UV Brightening Fluid Glow SPF 50+.

Unlike mineral or physical sunscreens, which often leave an annoying film or white cast behind, chemical sunscreens like the Garnier one employ synthetic UV filters to block out both UVB and UVA rays. For those of you unaware, UVA causes skin cancer and premature aging and UVB leaves you with a nasty sunburn.

The Garnier SPF moisturizer also packs a vitamin C punch, which we know helps to brighten the skin while also protecting against pollution and UV rays while working in conjunction with the SPF.

Currently, Garnier offers their new product in both a ‘glow’ and ‘invisible’ variety. As you might expect from the names, ‘glow’ gives you that bronzy summer feel while ‘invisible’ is the perfect choice for those with a matte preference.

It’s now my favorite SPF

Since I learned that we should be wearing some form of sun protection year-round regardless of weather, I have made it my mission to find the perfect UV shield for my skin. So far, I’ve tried sunscreens from brands like Inkey List, The Ordinary, and La Roche-Posay.

Perhaps my favorite feature of the ‘glow’ Garnier SPF moisturizer is its ability to have me summer-ready without looking like I’ve got layers of fake tan on. The slow is subtle, but present enough to have sparked numerous compliments coming my way – what’s not to love?

The moisturizer also forms a great base for makeup, unlike traditional sunscreens that leave your skin sticky and almost ill-looking.

I’m not the only one that is loving the new product, as one fan penned on Twitter: “Absolutely love this Garnier SPF. If you’ve got oily or acne-prone skin this is the one.”

In her glowing review for Refinery29, Jacqueline Kilikita similarly wrote: “It made my skin gleam in all the right places without so much as a single shimmer particle. My skin simply looked dewy, plump and healthy. I’d actually planned to return home and apply a little concealer ahead of a day out with friends, but the coverage was substantial enough to skip it entirely.”
