Fabrizio Romano claims Tottenham Hotspur player now wants to leave in £17m transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are ready for a huge transfer window this summer with Ange Postecoglou no doubt ready to part ways with a host of players.

The first season in the post-Harry Kane era resulted in a fifth-place finish for Tottenham Hotspur and subsequent qualification for the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou started the season brilliantly but the end to the season was troubling for Tottenham, sparking a potential exodus this summer.

The Tottenham boss has already admitted his plans to shake up the squad, signalling a number of sales and plenty of incomings.

It’s easy to predict that some loaned-out players will be primed to go.

Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence and Tanguy Ndombele fit into that category and all four players are unlikely to have futures under Postecoglou.

Some first-team players will leave as well though with some difficult decisions to be made over the coming weeks and months.

Emerson Royal wants Tottenham Hotspur exit

A key area of focus will surely be full back – on both sides.

Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro are the full backs for the present and the future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but competition is needed.

Emerson Royal actually started Tottenham’s opening game at Brentford but found himself behind Porro for most of the campaign.

The Brazilian has just never quite managed to live up to the billing following his 2021 move from Barcelona.

AC Milan are thought to be hugely keen on Emerson and a new update has now emerged.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Emerson is a ‘strong option’ for Milan alongside Lille’s Tiago Santos.

It’s stated that Emerson ‘wants the move’ and there would be no issue agreeing personal terms with the Serie A side.

Tottenham are demanding around €20million (£17million) for Emerson, seemingly willing to take a decent loss just to move him on.

Emerson needs a fresh start away from Tottenham and it seems that he fancies a move to Italy to get himself back on track.

Tottenham need to have a replacement in mind

Yes, it’s time for Emerson to move on, but Tottenham need to think quickly about a replacement.

Porro won’t be featuring at Euro 2024 but he needs competition in pre-season and heading into the Premier League campaign.

The favourite right now appears to be Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Southampton ace is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy and a return would not only give Postecoglou cover on both sides of his defence, but also help with homegrown numbers.

Southampton’s promotion back to the Premier League could complicate matters but Walker-Peters figures to be a key target amid claims Spurs want him back.

Another option is Ferdi Kadioglu, with the Fenerbahce ace thought to be on the radar.

Kadioglu has also played at both left back and right back, whilst his history as an attacking midfielder earlier in his career means he could be a great fit for the way Postecoglou uses his full backs.

Those advanced central areas won’t be unfamiliar to Kadioglu and that ability could make him a key target.

Perhaps Tottenham will target both Walker-Peters and Kadioglu, bringing in two versatile full backs to really help Postecoglou’s options ahead of the Europa League demands.
