Tottenham’s top striker target is now preparing to make Premier League move this summer

Tottenham Hotspur’s number-one striker target has now decided he wants to make a move to the Premier League this summer.

After selling Harry Kane last summer to Bayern Munich, Ange Postecoglou has been left with a major void up top at Tottenham.

Spurs went into the 2023/24 campaign with Richarlison as their only senior out-and-out striker having signed Alejo Veliz.

The summer transfer window promises to be a busy one for Spurs with Postecoglou admitting on the recent trip to Australia that he is looking to sign more forwards.

Timo Werner‘s loan for next season has already been secured, but Spurs are now on the hunt to bring in another number nine.

And it seems the club’s number one option is now setting his sights on a potential move to the Premier League over the coming months.

Tottenham’s top priority target wants Premier League move

Ahead of the summer, Spurs are said to have established a six-man shortlist of potential striker targets to provide an upgrade on Richarlison.

A variety of strikers from the Premier League and Europe with the likes of Ivan Toney and Viktor Gyokeres believed to be on the list.

However, The Spurs News understands that Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has been made Tottenham’s number one striker target.

The Mexican striker has already spoken about a potential move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following previous interest being lodged by Spurs.

According to Futbol Total, Gimenez is now eyeing the Premier League as his landing spot with a move away from Feyenoord on the cards.

It is also claimed Liverpool, Southampton and even Championship outfit Leeds United are some of the sides from England who have their eyes on the 23-year-old.

However, it is believed all parties: the player, Feyenoord and the interested clubs are all keen to wait until after the Copa America before making any moves.

Ange Postecoglou has personally identified Santiago Gimenez

With Spurs in the market to find a potential successor for Kane this summer, it is believed Postecoglou has identified Gimenez as the player he’d like Tottenham to sign.

The striker would arrive in north London on the back of a promising campaign in the Eredivisie where he netted 23 goals and provided six assists.

However, the main concern will be the record of previous strikers coming over from the Dutch top flight into the Premier League.

The likes of Luis Suarez will give sides hope of repeating such a signing, but players like Vincent Janssen also demonstrate how it can not work out that way.
