What Enzo Maresca is doing right now on his holiday before taking charge of Chelsea's pre-season - journalist

Chelsea have now finally made an official announcement over who their next manager is going to be ahead of next season.

The Blues confirmed that Enzo Maresca had taken over the role, with him being handed a long-term contract with the aim of him leading the project to bigger and better things.

He has replaced Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked from his role despite securing qualification for Europe with a top six finish.

It is widely expected that the decision to part ways with the Argentine was not made based on matters on the pitch, and rather disagreements over the transfer strategy.

It doesn’t look as if this will be an issue with Maresca, after taking into consideration his comments last month when he was in charge at Leicester City.

He claimed that he was not looking to be involved in the transfers, and instead just wanted the facilities to succeed in his job.

The Italian is currently on holiday, taking a well-earned break before he is thrown in at the deep end at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca working while on holiday

According to journalist Kieran Gill, he does not start work until July, although has already got to work with his preperation for his new role.

He said: “To add to this, Maresca officially starts work on July 1, but is now spending his holiday in Marbella rewatching Chelsea games from 2023-24…”

It has been claimed that the new boss has already laid down the gauntlet to the first team stars ahead of the upcoming pre-season campaign.

While Lesley Ugochukwu has been allowed to play, the likes of Enzo Fernandez have been banned from featuring in the Olympics in order for them to be available for pre-season.

Reports have claimed that Maresca has a big plan in place for the World Cup winner in order to get the best out of him, and that is certainly exciting for Chelsea fans who are waiting to see the best out of him.
