'Horrible to play against': What Alan Shearer said about PL striker Tottenham have now reportedly asked about

Tottenham Hotspur have now reportedly made contact over a move for a Premier League player Alan Shearer suggested would be ‘horrible’ to come up against.

Spurs have already got their summer transfer window underway, with Ange Postecoglou’s side ensuring that Timo Werner will remain in North London on loan next season.

But, unsurprisingly, Werner is unlikely to be the last attacker Tottenham look to sign this summer, with reports claiming that they have made contact over a move for Rodrigo Muniz.

It was reported by Goal Brasil this week that Tottenham and Chelsea have both registered an interest in the Brazilian who seemingly turned into a different player during the second-half of this past campaign.

What Alan Shearer said about Tottenham target Rodrigo Muniz

Muniz did not score a single Premier League goal before the end of January, but then went on to score nine times in the final 16 games of the season for Marco Silva’s men.

One person, of course, who knows what it takes to be a striker who thrives in the Premier League is Alan Shearer.

And speaking on Match of the Day in February, Shearer outlined how impressed he had been by the 23-year-old.

“He really was a handful. Tough to play against, horrible to play against in fact. That’s always a good thing for a centre-forward, that’s what you have to be.

“He was strong, he ran the channels, he brought players into the game and he really upset the Bournemouth defenders in every way, in everything he was doing. He was willing to run in behind and on one of the occasions he does it, they get their first goal because of it.”

Spurs could face dilemma after striker’s purple patch

Tottenham do appear to need that number nine who can regularly lead the line for Postecoglou’s men. Richarlison seemed to turn a corner this past year, but he has struggled with form and fitness in the past.

Meanwhile, it is hard to argue with those who believe that Heung-min Son is at his best out on the left, so perhaps Muniz could be the man to give them more depth up front.

Shearer clearly saw a lot to suggest that Muniz has an incredibly bright future ahead. How Tottenham move forward after their reported approach may reveal plenty about how much potential they believe he has after his stunning run of form.
