'World-class': Joe Cole says he absolutely loves watching £60m PL star Tottenham are ready to open talks with

Joe Cole has claimed that he loves watching one ‘world-class’ Premier League player, who is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spurs have wasted little time getting into stuck into the market, with Timo Werner’s loan being extended by a further year after a decent run of form following his arrival in January.

And it seems that they are planning to step up their interest in one of their top targets imminently.

It was reported at the weekend that Tottenham are looking to open talks with Crystal Palace over a move for Eberechi Eze in the next two weeks, with the England international believing that the Eagles will let him leave should they receive an offer of £60 million.

Eze has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this past season, scoring 11 goals for Oliver Glasner’s men. And his reward was a place in the provisional England squad for Euro 2024.

Speaking on Channel 4 (broadcast on 3/6; 19:26) ahead of the Three Lions’ warm-up game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Joe Cole suggested that he is such a fan of the 25-year-old.

“He is one of the players in the Premier League who I love watching. He is so balanced, he brings the ball, he goes both ways, and again, he is one of them great players, when you have a world-class player, the game calms around him. He takes his time,” he said.

Spurs set for another battle with Aston Villa

Tottenham spent much of this past season battling with Aston Villa for a place in the top four in the Premier League, and with that, a place in the Champions League next year.

Ultimately, it was the Villans who got across the line and will take their place at European football’s top table next season. But it appears that they could also now battle over Eze.

Aston Villa are reportedly growing increasingly interested in Eze as they look to strengthen their options in the final third, so Tottenham may be wise to act quickly.

It would be a real statement if Spurs can secure Eze’s signature this summer, but it is definitely not going to be an easy task.
