Report: 'World-class' £45m striker has made Enzo Maresca's Chelsea wishlist alongside Victor Osimhen

Chelsea are looking to make a big splash once again this summer as the club looks to back Enzo Maresca in the transfer market.

Maresca has taken over the reins from Mauricio Pochettino, who lost his job at the club despite a superb finish to the season.

Indeed, Chelsea’s players are believed to be shellshocked at the news and Maresca will have a big early task on his hands to get those players onside.

Away from the current squad, Chelsea are also looking at new signings and particularly, a new forward.

And according to reports, there are five names on Maresca’s list of options, including one of England’s top goal-getters.

Chelsea include Ivan Toney on list of potential striker signings

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Chelsea and Maresca have drawn up a list of strikers who they’d like to sign.

And among that list is Brentford star, Ivan Toney.

Lauded as a ‘world-class’ forward, Toney has been linked with a number of different clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham in recent months.

Brentford held their nerve both last summer and in January and Toney has stayed. For now, anyway.

However, this summer could be different as Brentford look to cash in given Toney’s contract situation and Chelsea are keen on signing him.

On the list with Toney is Victor Osimhen, while Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Artem Dovbyk are all said to have caught the eye as well.

Toney could be available for as little as £45m this summer and Brentford are expected to be open to offers.

Toney is ideal for Chelsea

When you look at Chelsea and you look at the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson all buzzing about up top, the addition of a player like Ivan Toney makes so much sense.

The Brentford man is a big unit of a striker who can bring those players into the game more and at £45m, the price is cheap really for his talent.

Chelsea also get the added benefit of Toney being proven in the Premier League. He’s almost a guaranteed hit when it comes to goals.

Maresca, then, will surely be more than happy if it is Toney out of those five names mentioned.
