Report: Chelsea are now prioritising signing £55m striker instead of Victor Osimhen

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have shifted their focus onto another striker after making a big decision ahead of the summer transfer window.

It has been claimed that the Blues are going to be in the market for a striker this summer after refusing to spend big money on one in the past.

Frequently mentioned as their number one target near enough all last summer was Victor Osimhen, with many expecting him to be on the move from Napoli this season after their lacklustre title defence in Italy.

However, it was reported last week that the Blues have decided not to pursue that deal, with the financial aspect surrounding it something which has put them off it.

Nevertheless, it has been claimed a number nine is still high on their list of priorities, and they have honed in on one player as their new focus.

Chelsea focusing on Benjamin Sesko

According to The Athletic, they are focusing on a move for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, with him being another name who has been on the shortlist for quite a while now.

The youngster enjoyed a very strong finish to the campaign, and this saw his release clause reportedly rise to a fee of £55m.

The Blues are not the only Premier League side interested in a deal, with Arsenal seemingly interested in bringing him in too.

Sesko keen on Arsenal over Chelsea

It has been reported that Sesko would actually be more keen for a move to the Emirates than Stamford Bridge if the opportunity did arise.

However, a move there could well see him playing second fiddle to Kai Havertz, after he found some form off the back of his move away from Chelsea.

Saying that, any striker who comes in to West London will have the task of keeping Nicolas Jackson out the side, with him enjoying a very strong debut campaign.
