‘Sad’: Darren Bent says he’d be gutted if Arsenal sold £30m player now

Arsenal need to sell a few players this summer.

The Gunners’ squad is quite bloated, and they have a number of players who, with all due respect, aren’t up to scratch.

The likes of Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are expected to go, while another academy product has also been linked with a move away.

Indeed, Emile Smith Rowe is said to be a top target for Fulham heading into the summer, and speaking on TalkSPORT, Darren Bent has now discussed the idea of selling Smith Rowe this summer.

As an Arsenal supporter, Bent says he’d be sad to see Smith Rowe leave the club, stating that he loved watching him play as he was coming through at Arsenal.

Darren Bent would be sad to see Emile Smith Rowe sold

Bent spoke about the idea of selling Smith Rowe amid talk of a £30m move.

“I would be sad to see him leave. As a young kid coming through, loved watching him play for Arsenal, but again, if he is not going to get many opportunities, he needs to play,” Bent said.

Smith Rowe sale would be a shame

Bent is right, in a lot of ways, it would be sad to see Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal.

The midfielder, along with Bukayo Saka, looked like he’d be the heartbeat of this Arsenal team for years to come when he first broke through, but, sadly, it hasn’t quite gone that way.

Smith Rowe’s career has been hampered by injury and competition in his position at Arsenal, and now, after two years on the bench, he does need to move.

In another world, Smith Rowe would be an Arsenal star and potentially a future captain, but, sadly, the midfielder is now at the point where he needs to move on in order to fulfil his potential and play more football.
