Report: 'Crazy' £4m player set to be available this summer after leaving Nottingham Forest in 2022

A player who Nottingham Forest sold in 2022 is now set to become available once again this summer.

An interesting summer awaits Nottingham Forest and Nuno Espirito Santo having retained their Premier League status this season.

Evangelos Marinakis cast a frustrated figure for the large majority of the 2023/24 campaign with a lot going against Forest.

More departures are expected to be needed at the City Ground over the course of the month with Forest needing to sell players to comply with FFP before the June 30 deadline.

And it seems a former Forest player is also potentially on the move this summer as his club looks to bring in some money to ease their financial concerns.

Former Forest player set to leave club two years on

Since promotion to the Premier League, there has been a lot of players coming into the club as the Forest owner has looked to back his managers.

However, that has also led to the need to sell players for financial reasons as Brennan Johnson experienced last summer as he was sold to Tottenham Hotspur for a significant chunk of money.

But one player who departed the City Ground following their promotion season was goalkeeper Brice Samba.

The Frenchman left Forest to make the move to Ligue 1 side RC Lens in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £4m.

According to reports from France, Brice Samba is available to leave Lens this summer as the club look to make cuts.

The report suggests the 30-year-old has been offered to fellow Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille despite still having four more years on his deal.

It is also claimed although he has been offered to Marseille, a move abroad cannot be ruled out this summer.

Brice Samba could be the answer to Forest’s problem

Forest have gone through their fair share of goalkeepers this season with Matz Sels ending the campaign as Nuno’s starting keeper.

However, there has also been Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos play their part between the sticks this season.

Samba could offer Forest with a solid option in goal for next season with the Frenchman having already played 133 times for the club.

In his final season at the club, Samba made 40 appearances in the Championship as Forest secured their return back to the top flight.

The Frenchman has played a big role for Lens in his two seasons at the club and has received big praise from former French goalkeeper Jerome Alonzo.

“He’s a goalkeeper who has a huge mentally. He still has this crazy side with his one-handed saves, but it’s part of his personality. He wants to steal the show. I love that!” Alonzo told the Ligue 1 website.
