Report: West Ham now perform transfer U-turn over 'sensational' Nottingham Forest player ahead of the summer

Nottingham Forest have now been handed a boost going into the summer transfer window with a Premier League club dropping their interest in one of their top forwards.

Another season in the Premier League is now in the books for Nottingham Forest with survival secured by the skin of their teeth.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side have endured a turbulent campaign which saw a four-point deduction lead them close to relegation.

And things don’t get any easier at the City Ground this summer despite securing their spot in the top flight for next season with financial concerns still hanging over their heads.

Forest are expected to be needing to sell this months before June 30 to avoid any further run-ins with FFP going into the new campaign.

But it seems they have have some relief in keeping one of their strikers this summer with interest from a Premier League said to have dispersed over recent weeks.

Forest striker now no longer on Premier League side’s radar

Forest may be forced into selling some of their prized assets over the coming weeks if they are to avoid the implications of their financial position again.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo are two players who Forest could sell this summer with big valuations put on the pair already.

Despite their struggles, Forest have seen a number of their players provide some sensational displays over the campaign.

Unfortunately for Nuno, some of those individuals may need to be moved on, but there is one player who may now be more likely to remain at Forest.

According to GiveMeSport, West Ham United no longer have an interest in the Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi after David Moyes’ exit.

It is believed the former West Ham manager is the one who was leading the interest in the Nigerian ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, since his departure and the appointment of Julen Lopetegui, focus is being put elsewhere in the Hammers’ search for a striker.

What Jurgen Klopp said about Taiwo Awoniyi

A difficult campaign for the 26-year-old has come to an end with injuries riddling his campaign which has seriously hindered his minutes on the pitch.

The Nigerian did return six goals in the Premier League having started just 12 games in the top flight with Chris Wood taking up the responsibility for Nuno in his absence.

Clearly, the Nigerian is a player who has impressed across the league with former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailing Awoniyi back in 2022.

“He’s had a sensational development. He has arrived where he belongs and I am happy for him, but not today so much,” he said.
